Job summary

Stellar Development Foundation is seeking a seasoned software engineer to design and build Stellar Core, the backbone of the Stellar Network. You will implement scalable, high-performance components and contribute to edge-case analysis and future-proofing.

You will collaborate with our CTO, other engineers, and the open-source community to shape architectures, review code, and advance performance, decentralization, and protocol design through RFC-driven processes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience developing software on a team.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficient in C++ or Rust in production environments.
• Strong communication and ability to lead technical discussions during design/code reviews.
• Solid understanding of software design patterns and modular components.
• Passion for performance debugging and benchmarking.

Responsibilities

• Design and build key components of Stellar Core—the backbone of the Stellar Network.
• Design and develop robust, scalable, and extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
• Collaborate with CTO, engineers, and the open-source community on architectures and subsystems.
• Write clean, maintainable code with focus on edge cases and future-proofing.
• Own core subsystems of Stellar Core and help hit critical milestones.
• Participate in code reviews and RFC-driven design processes.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks to scale the system.
