Job summary

The Stellar Development Foundation is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build, and improve Stellar Core—the backbone of the Stellar Network. You will contribute to scalable, high-performance distributed systems and help advance decentralization and network resilience.

You will work with our CTO and a small, autonomous team, writing clean C++ or Rust, conducting design reviews, and producing RFCs. This role offers meaningful impact and a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development on a team.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in C++ or Rust in production environments.
• Strong communication and design skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Stellar Core components.
• Develop scalable, robust technologies for developers and network participants.
• Collaborate on architectures with the CTO, engineers, and open source community.
• Write clean, maintainable code with attention to edge cases and future-proofing.
• Own core subsystems of Stellar Core and drive milestones.
• Review code and contribute to engineering best practices across SDF.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks to scale the system.
• Author RFCs and detailed technical specifications.
