Job summary

Applied Intuition, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer for the Drone Stack team in Fort Walton Beach, FL. You will design and integrate autonomy and vehicle intelligence systems spanning hardware and software domains, deploying algorithms in SIL, HIL, and live test environments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers, focusing on seamless hardware-software integration, troubleshooting, and demonstrations. Strong C++ experience and interest in drones are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science or related engineering field.
• 5–10 years of hands-on experience with robotic systems.
• Experience with C++ programming.
• Experience integrating autonomy with Pixhawk autopilots (ArduPilot or PX4).
• Experience with UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI/QSPI, I2C, Ethernet.
• Experience Docker, Linux-based OS (RHEL/Ubuntu).
• Experience using Git, VS Code, GitLab.
• Familiarity with SIL/HIL and safety-critical systems.
• Excellent communication and customer-focused delivery.
• Willing to travel 10–20%; US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate autonomy capabilities across defense problems.
• Deploy autonomy onto embedded Linux platforms and hardware sensors.
• Troubleshoot integration issues for reliability and performance.
• Integrate autonomy software with aircraft autopilots, datalinks, sensors, GPS/INS, GCS.
• Support live flight test of autonomy software on UAVs.
• Collaborate with UAS vendors to integrate software on OEM hardware.
• Perform system-level setup, testing, and validation (SIL/HIL).
• Work with autonomy engineers to implement service-oriented architecture and inter-process messaging.
