Job summary

Applied Intuition is seeking an Autonomy Integration Engineer for the Drone Stack team to bridge hardware, edge software, and field flight operations. You will split time between lab benches and airfield testing to bring autonomous aerial systems from bench configuration to live flights.

The role requires hands-on wiring, soldering, Linux/Networking mastery, and strong Python/C++ scripting. HQ options include Sunnyvale, CA or Ann Arbor, MI with relocation offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in robotics integration, flight test engineering, embedded systems, or autonomous vehicles (aerial background preferred).
• Linux CLI, file management, system logging, local IP routing, subnets, and containerized deployments (Docker).
• Hands-on skills in wiring, cable assembly, bench soldering, and diagnostics using oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or Shell scripting for automation and flight data logs processing.
• Experience with serial and vehicle bus protocols (UART, CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).
• Leadership to drive major integration efforts and coordinate software, GNC, and hardware teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead System Bring-Up: Drive end-to-end hardware and software integration for unmanned aerial systems, moving from benchtop to flight.
• Deploy & Configure Edge Software: Manage Docker-based stacks across onboard computes and peripherals.
• Field & Bench Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot networks, payload interfaces, and sensor links in real time.
• Build Test Tooling & Glue Code: Develop Python and C++ scripts for data reduction and validation.
• System Cabling & Electronics: Fabricate wiring harnesses and perform precision soldering.
• Manage Communications & Networks: Configure IP routing, subnets, and interfaces between flight controllers and ground stations.
