Job summary

GovCIO is hiring an experienced C# / ASP.NET Application Engineer to maintain and enhance a C# ASP.NET web application with a SQL Server backend, SSIS packages, and Active Directory integration. This role is fully remote within the United States.

You will maintain ASP.NET applications (MVC/Web API/Web Forms), manage SQL Server databases, deploy SSIS packages, and handle SQL Server Agent jobs while ensuring secure coding practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering; 12+ years of experience preferred.
• Strong C# and ASP.NET experience.
• Solid T-SQL and SQL Server administration knowledge.
• Hands-on SSIS development and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Active Directory and Windows Authentication.
• SQL Server Agent job management.
• Familiarity with IIS administration.
• Git-based development workflow.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ASP.NET (MVC/Web API/Web Forms) applications, ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end components.
• Support SQL Server databases: queries, indexing, performance tuning
• Update and deploy SSIS packages
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs and troubleshoot failures
• Design, query, and manage relational databases (SQL Server), including writing efficient T-SQL, stored procedures
• Configure and support AD authentication and IIS settings
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and debug issues across the full application stack, from the UI down to the database and server layers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including database administrators, system administrators, and security teams to design new features and troubleshoot issues
• Maintain documentation and follow secure coding practices
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following .NET coding standards and object-oriented design principles
• Optimize data models and database architectures to enhance performance and scalability
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to overall code quality and adherence to .NET best practices
• Stay current with updates to the .NET framework and the broader Microsoft development ecosystem, recommending improvements where relevant
