Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced C# / ASP.NET Application Engineer to maintain and enhance a C# ASP.NET web application with a SQL Server backend, SSIS packages, Active Directory integration, and SQL Server Agent scheduled jobs. This role is fully remote within the United States.

You will maintain, optimize, and deploy across the full stack, collaborate with admins and security teams, and ensure code quality and secure practices while staying current with the Microsoft ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering with 12+ years of experience or commensurate experience.
• Strong C# and ASP.NET experience.
• Solid T-SQL skills and SQL Server administration knowledge.
• Hands-on SSIS development and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Active Directory and Windows Authentication; read/write to AD.
• SQL Server Agent job management.
• Familiarity with IIS administration.
• Git-based development workflow.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ASP.NET (MVC/Web API/Web Forms) applications, ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end components.
• Support SQL Server databases: queries, indexing, performance tuning.
• Update and deploy SSIS packages.
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs and troubleshoot failures.
• Design, query, and manage relational databases (SQL Server), including writing efficient T-SQL, stored procedures.
• Configure and support AD authentication and IIS settings.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and debug issues across the full application stack, from the UI to the database and server layers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DBAs, admins, and security teams to design new features.
• Maintain documentation and follow secure coding practices.
• Write clean, maintainable code following .NET standards and OO design.
• Optimize data models and database architectures for performance and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and improve overall code quality and .NET best practices.
• Stay current with .NET updates and Microsoft ecosystem, recommending improvements.
