Senior Business Systems Analyst (PeopleSoft Project Costing & Asset Management)

Location: Austin, TX

Work Schedule: Hybrid (2 days onsite, 3 days remote)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $120K - $130K

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to support enterprise financial systems and business processes related to PeopleSoft Project Costing and Asset Management. This role serves as a critical link between Accounting, Operations, and Technology teams, helping ensure the effective administration, enhancement, and support of core ERP processes that enable capital projects, asset management, customer billing, and financial reporting.

Working within the Accounting Systems team, you will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business functions, including Project Management, Asset Management, Generation, Transmission, Finance, and Information Technology. This is a highly visible functional role that combines business analysis, system administration, process improvement, user support, training, and project participation.

The ideal candidate will bring strong ERP functional expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into practical system solutions.

What You’ll Do
PeopleSoft Functional Ownership
  • Serve as the primary functional analyst for PeopleSoft Asset Management and Project Costing modules.
  • Provide secondary support for Time & Labor and Payroll functions.
  • Act as a liaison between business users and technology teams to ensure business needs are effectively translated into system solutions.
  • Support system configurations, security administration, testing, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance activities.
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Analyze existing business processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and optimization.
  • Gather, document, and manage business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Develop functional specifications and Functional Design Documents for technical teams.
  • Support business process redesign initiatives and system enhancement efforts.
Application Support & Troubleshooting
  • Research and resolve functional issues related to PeopleSoft processes and integrations.
  • Investigate transaction failures, processing issues, accounting flow discrepancies, and data integrity concerns.
  • Coordinate with technical teams and vendors to resolve application defects and system issues.
  • Support quarterly system updates, enhancements, and release activities.
Reporting & Data Analysis
  • Create and maintain PeopleSoft queries and reports for business users.
  • Extract and analyze data using Oracle SQL Developer or comparable reporting tools.
  • Provide insights and reporting support for accounting, capital project, and operational teams.
Projects & Integrations
  • Participate in ERP enhancement initiatives and enterprise application projects.
  • Support PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) image upgrades and testing efforts.
  • Assist with integrations involving Project Costing and related enterprise systems.
  • Collaborate with technical teams on data mapping, APIs, and integration requirements.
Training & User Enablement
  • Develop system documentation, training materials, and user guides.
  • Deliver end-user training and knowledge transfer sessions.
  • Support user access reviews, security administration, and audit requirements.
  • Promote effective system utilization and adoption across the organization.
Qualifications
Required
  • Approximately 9+ years of experience in business systems analysis, ERP support, or related functional roles.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and serving as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise business processes and ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting complex business applications in a functional capacity.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
ERP & Systems Experience
  • Hands-on functional experience supporting:
  • PeopleSoft Project Costing
  • PeopleSoft Asset Management
  • Experience with additional PeopleSoft modules such as:
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Customer Contracts
  • Time & Labor
  • Payroll
  • Experience with comparable enterprise ERP platforms such as SAP.
Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Experience using Oracle SQL Developer or comparable database/reporting tools.
  • Ability to write and maintain PeopleSoft queries and reports.
  • Knowledge of ERP integrations, data flows, API concepts, and middleware environments.
  • Understanding of system testing, release management, and documentation best practices.
Business & Accounting Knowledge
  • Familiarity with:
  • General Ledger processes
  • Capital project accounting
  • Knowledge of:
  • GAAP
  • GASB
  • FERC regulations
Ideal Candidate Profile

You are a functional ERP professional who enjoys solving business problems through technology. You have experience supporting enterprise financial systems, can effectively communicate with both business and technical stakeholders, and are comfortable balancing production support, enhancement work, process improvement initiatives, and project responsibilities. Experience with PeopleSoft Asset Management and Project Costing is especially valuable, but candidates with strong ERP experience in comparable platforms may also be considered.
