Job summary

CBRE Chief Building Engineer in Washington, DC performs preventive maintenance and repairs on buildings, systems, and grounds while leading operations and training coworkers. The role ensures safety, compliance, and efficient performance across multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities include scheduling preventive maintenance with clients, monitoring HVAC, fire alarm, and plumbing systems, and supervising engineering staff to maintain client spaces in excellent condition.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5–8 years of related experience.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting 50 lb+.
• Experience supervising shift or team members is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations, assign work orders, and train coworkers and subcontractors.
• Schedule preventive maintenance with clients to minimize downtime.
• Check building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure operation within design specs.
• Oversee and inspect work of engineering staff to ensure completion and client space is in good condition.
• Respond to emergency situations and seek assistance when needed.
• Coach others to develop expertise across the function.
