Job summary

Hines is seeking a Building Lead Engineer to manage and maintain building systems in a high-standard environment. You will supervise a crew, coordinate with contractors, and ensure safety and compliance across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations.

The role emphasizes leadership, problem solving, and proactive maintenance, with a path toward long-term planning and budgeting. Excellent communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• State of Connecticut D2 or S2 license preferred.
• Demonstrate excellent knowledge in operating all building systems.
• Demonstrate interpersonal, leadership, organizational, communication, analytical and time management skills.
• Have a strong background in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
• Proficiency with Building Automation System, computer-based communications, and Microsoft Office to manage engineering programs.
• Complete the Hines Engineering Training program within the specified timeframe.
• Read and use testing equipment and basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment to meet established operating criteria.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on building systems and components.
• Lead crew, schedule work, and coordinate with outside contractors.
• Maintain operation logs and create spreadsheets; track work orders and callbacks.
• Support budgeting, long-term planning, and staff development for engineering.
