Job summary

Hines is seeking a Building Engineer to maintain and operate building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and safety programs. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with supervisors and contractors to ensure reliable facilities operations.

The role requires a HS diploma, HVAC experience, and familiarity with building codes. Training is provided, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and tenant service across property operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Two years commercial HVAC or related experience.
• Successful completion of the Hines “Introduction to Engineering” training program.
• Familiar with Engineering Assessment Guidelines and related procedures.
• Able to read testing equipment manuals and operate basic measurement tools.
• Understand usage of power tools and safety protocols.
• Capable of basic math for equipment performance checks.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills to administer required engineering programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems.
• Adjust HVAC equipment to meet operating criteria per supervisor guidance.
• Repair and replace building components and fixtures as needed.
• Participate in water treatment chemical programs.
• Maintain operation logs and inspection records.
• Use HVAC controls to adjust systems and resolve work orders.
• Respond promptly to tenant requests within policy guidelines.
• Maintain professional relations with contractors and tenants.
• Follow safety and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Assist with emergency procedures and life safety system actions.
