Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Specification Writer III to join our Southwest Building Science + Infrastructure team in Tempe, AZ. You’ll lead research of materials, develop detailed specifications, and ensure alignment with project requirements, codes, and standards.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to maintain high-quality documentation, coordinate with consultants, and stay current on industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Science or related field.
• 8+ years of architectural and specification writing experience.
• CSI membership; CDT/CCS/LEED AP a plus; licensure is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiary.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams in researching product materials and manufacturers for architectural projects.
• Prepare and edit project specifications and Division 01 sections.
• Coordinate consultant specifications with firm standards and project manuals.
• Educate design teams on product selection and design considerations.
• Plan and prepare construction specifications for project milestones.
• Review submittals and substitution requests for compliance.
