Job summary

McKinstry in Tampa, FL, seeks a Senior Building Operating Engineer to lead on-site management, supervise subcontractors, and maintain client relationships, ensuring efficient, reliable building operations. You will review HVAC installations, recommend energy-efficient upgrades, and communicate technical guidance to clients while upholding safety and quality across projects.

This role requires strong technical knowledge, certifications, and a proven track record in building operations.

Qualifications

• Six years of leadership on trades and job sites preferred.
• BA/BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture or Facilities Management or equivalent work experience preferred.
• HVAC knowledge and certifications such as EPA 608 for handling refrigerants.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• On-site management of subcontractors and maintenance of client relationships.
• Act as on-site face of McKinstry, performing quality control checks of HVAC installations.
• Provide recommendations on system upgrades and energy-efficient alternatives.
• Communicate with clients by providing technical guidance and support.
