Job summary

McKinstry in Tampa, FL seeks a Senior Building Operating Engineer to lead on-site management of HVAC projects and maintain client relationships. You will oversee subcontractors, perform quality control on HVAC installations, and advise on system upgrades and energy efficiency options to optimize building performance.

The role requires OSHA certifications, solid communication skills, and 6 years of leadership on job sites, with EPA 608 and a relevant 4-year degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, equipment, and components.
• OSHA 10 and 30 certifications required or must be obtained within 6 months of assuming position.
• Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
• Six (6) years of leadership of trades and job sites preferred.
• Relevant HVAC certifications or licenses, such as EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants.
• BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture or Facilities Management or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• On-site management of subcontractors to ensure project success.
• Maintain client relationships and act as the on-site face of McKinstry.
• Perform quality control checks of HVAC installations and recommend energy-efficient upgrades.
• Communicate with clients to provide technical guidance and support.
