Job summary

City of Santa Ana is seeking qualified inspectors to ensure safe building construction and code compliance across residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Under general supervision, inspectors review plans, conduct field inspections, ensure life safety features, and provide technical guidance to developers, contractors, and homeowners. ICC certifications and a valid CA driver’s license are required; evening/weekend work may be needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current codes, laws, and regulations related to building construction.
• Skill in performing effective inspections and interpreting blueprints.
• Ability to use GIS for data display and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Inspect plans, blueprints, and specifications for code compliance in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
• Perform field inspections and verify life safety features and accessibility.
• Issue citations and respond to citizen complaints while mediating disputes.
• Prepare reports, notices, and records; provide technical guidance to developers, contractors, and homeowners.
