Job summary

CSG Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Building Inspector to supervise and coordinate inspectors across residential, commercial, and industrial projects in California.

You will review plans, inspect work in progress, and ensure compliance with state and local codes, while mentoring staff and handling complex enforcement challenges. The role requires ICC certifications, 10+ years in building inspection, 5+ years as a Building Inspector II, and a valid California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• ICC Certification: Combination Building Inspector – Residential and Commercial.
• ICC Certification: Residential Plans Examiner or Commercial Building Examiner preferred.
• 10+ years of Building Inspection experience.
• 5+ years as Building Inspector II or equivalent.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• MS Office Suite knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid CA Class C driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of industrial, commercial and residential buildings during various stages of construction/remodel to ensure code compliance.
• Make field inspections when difficult enforcement or public relations issues arise as directed by the Building Official.
• Supervise, assign, and lay out the work of construction inspectors for conformance toBuilding Code.
• Check construction methods and material quality at sites.
• Investigate and resolve complaints and violations of codes.
• Provide plan checking for minor projects, including residential additions and tenant improvements.
• Train and evaluate inspectors in proper procedures and interpretation of codes.
• Handle multiple tasks with accuracy in a dynamic environment.
