Job summary

Lerch Bates is seeking a Building Envelope Consultant to join our Building Science team. You will lead multiple projects and act as the primary technical resource for owners, architects, developers, and contractors, performing building assessments and enclosure design reviews.

You will support commissioning efforts, QA activities, and provide practical solutions for roofing, waterproofing, facades, fenestration, and air, water, vapor, and thermal control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building enclosure consulting, architecture, engineering, construction, or related field.
• Strong understanding of building enclosure systems including roofing, waterproofing, facades, fenestration, and air/water/thermal/vapor barriers.
• Experience reviewing construction documents, technical specifications, and shop drawings.
• Excellent technical writing, report preparation, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects as primary technical resource for owners, architects, developers, and contractors.
• Conduct building assessments, enclosure design reviews, and commissioning support.
• Perform field QA observations during construction and review submittals for conformance.
• Assist in building enclosure commissioning, BECx documents, and Basis of Design narratives.
• Provide recommendations to improve enclosure performance, durability, and resilience.
