Job summary

Guardian Service Industries Inc. is seeking a seasoned Building Engineer to manage daily operation, maintenance and repair of city buildings in Norwalk, CT. You will diagnose, troubleshoot and ensure safe, energy-conscious operation using CMMS, BMS/BAS and digital records.

This union role requires coordinating with IT and vendors, supervising contractors and maintaining high service standards. Responsibilities include inspections, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs and effective building

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years in building operations, HVAC, or related maintenance.
Hands-on mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot HVAC and building systems.
Experience with BMS/BAS and energy-management tools.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site in a union setting.

Responsibilities

Inspect buildings and systems for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and BAS.
Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment and controls.
Operate and monitor BMS/BAS, manage alarms, trends, and setpoints.
Coordinate with IT, controls contractors, and outside vendors.
Assist with upgrade, commissioning, and project planning.
Maintain safety procedures and proper documentation.
