Job summary

Brevard County seeks a Chief Building Official to lead the Building Code Compliance unit within the Planning and Development Department. This permanent, full-time role oversees the County's Building Code Program and directs technical, professional, and clerical staff.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Architectural/Civil/Structural Engineering or Building Construction and has at least seven years' experience, including five in a supervisory capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Civil, Structural Engineering or Building Construction.
• Seven (7) years of experience as an architect, engineer, building inspector, building contractor, or building superintendent.
• Five (5) years in a supervisory capacity. Florida certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the County's Building Code Program.
• Supervise technical, professional, and clerical personnel.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Construction, or closely related field
