Job summary

The City of Boca Raton is seeking an Assistant Building Official to lead plan review and field inspections, ensuring compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes. Under the Chief Building Official, you will supervise staff, manage permits, enforce regulations, and participate in emergency operations; Florida certification and license required.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of experience in building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing inspection and plan review work.
• Three (3) years of professional field experience as an inspector.
• Two (2) years of professional plan review experience.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and supervises the building plan review and inspection processes under the supervision of the Chief Building Official.
• Enforces the laws, ordinances, and codes relating to the construction and alteration of buildings.
• Reviews and evaluates building plans for compliance with all applicable codes.
• Processes Certificates of Completion and notices of violation related to construction.
• Responds to inquiries from the public and staff regarding code requirements and inspection processes.
• Assists the Chief Building Official in maintaining professional relationships with officials and recommending amendments to Building Codes.
