Job summary

1X is seeking a Senior Build/Release Engineer to own and scale our automated build and release infrastructure across robotics, cloud, embedded, and simulation platforms. You will design reliable CI/CD pipelines, optimize build performance, and establish workflows that enable teams to ship software safely and efficiently.

The role requires strong automation skills, experience with Linux development environments, and a track record of reducing release risk in a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in Build Engineering, Release Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong programming experience in Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting and automation languages.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD systems using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Buildkite, Bazel, Buck2, CMake, or similar build systems.
• Experience supporting Linux-based development environments and distributed software teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and scale automated build and release infrastructure powering software development across 1X.
• Design highly reliable CI/CD systems and optimize build performance.
• Establish workflows to ship software safely across robotics, cloud, embedded, and simulation platforms.
• Develop automated testing, artifact management, versioning, and release validation systems.
