Job summary

City of New York seeks a Senior Advisor to the Chief Financial Officer to manage complex financial planning, budget analysis, and policy guidance across the agency. This role oversees agency-wide budgeting, revenue and capital budgeting, and requires deep data-driven insight for efficiency.

The position reports to the Deputy Commissioner of the Fiscal and Business Management line, guiding senior leaders and coordinating with multiple DCAS units to optimize resources and outcomes for New York

Qualifications

• Master's degree plus two years of budget/financial experience in public or private sector.
• Bachelor's degree with four years of relevant experience, including 18 months in supervisory capacity.
• Associate degree with six years of relevant experience, including 18 months in supervisory capacity.
• High school diploma or equivalent with eight years of related experience, including 18 months supervisory experience.
• A combination of education and/or experience as described above.

Responsibilities

• Support the annual budget process with detailed analysis and forecasting.
• Coordinate with DCAS Lines of Service to project expenses and focus areas.
• Review expenditures and revenues to maximize revenue opportunities.
• Develop analyses to support needs requests for the Office of Management and Budget.
• Coordinate responses for agency budgets and perform ad hoc analyses as needed.
• Provide recommendations to senior leadership flagging potential surpluses/deficits.
• Advise on budget operations and updates to finance policies for agency-wide implementation.
