Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development seeks a senior financial leader to serve as Deputy Commissioner of Financial Management. You will steer HPD’s budget, capital planning, and fiscal affairs, advising the Commissioner and leading a cross-disciplinary team in a public housing context.

The role demands deep public-sector financial expertise, strategic vision, and collaborative leadership to support the creation and preservation of affordable housing across New York City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with four years of related experience, including two years in housing or urban development.
• Experience in public-sector financial management and budget planning.
• Strong leadership and collaboration across multiple divisions and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Represent HPD in financial matters with city partners and oversight bodies.
• Provide guidance on financial impact of policy proposals and program initiatives.
• Oversee Accounts Payable/Receivable and fiscal procurement aligned with directives.
• Lead capital strategy including HPD's multi-year capital plan and funding sources.
• Improve financial processes and internal controls across divisions.
