Job summary

The City of Long Beach invites applications for the Budget Analysis Officer in the Department of Financial Management. This at-will management role reports to the Budget Management Bureau and focuses on fiscal health, citywide funds, and complex transactions.

The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, with several years in public finance, budget oversight, and staff supervision, and will partner with Accounting and other departments to deliver accurate budget

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Three years of progressive finance experience such as collecting, compiling and analyzing financial, statistical and technical data.
• Three years of experience working effectively with senior management in the public sector.
• Two years of supervisory or managerial level experience in the related field.
• Desirable: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage central budget funds and review funds for anomalies and complex transactions.
• Lead in-depth analysis of key fund proformas and citywide reserves.
• Supervise Budget Management Bureau staff and mentor budget staff.
• Prepare and present budget analyses to City Council, commissions and committees.
