Job summary

City of Baytown is seeking a Budget Analyst to assist in preparing and coordinating the annual budget, long-range forecast, and financial reporting. The role involves maintaining the general ledger, analyzing transactions, and supporting audits and CAFR preparation in a municipal finance environment.

You will collaborate with multiple departments, ensure accuracy of financial procedures, and participate in special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparation and coordination of the annual budget and long-range forecast.
Maintain the City’s general ledger and analyze financial transactions for reports.
Support department core functions: annual budget, year-end audit, and CAFR preparation.
Prepare financial reports with charts, graphs, and work papers for internal and external presentations.
Coordinate position control information with Payroll and Human Resources.
Assist in audit processes and respond to inquiries from auditors.
