Job summary

Mediacom Communications is seeking a Broadband Specialist IV, Maintenance to perform field technical work maintaining the HFC and distribution systems, operating from node to tap, and supporting new distribution setup. The role emphasizes safety, hands-on troubleshooting, and equipment installation across multiple sites.

The ideal candidate has substantial experience in broadband systems, fiber and coax, plus the ability to work in varied weather and heights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associates preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Minimum 6 months as Broadband Specialist III or 5+ years’ equivalent experience.
• 18 months tenure as Mediacom BBS III or equivalent.
• Knowledge of HFC plant, installs and service calls.
• Knowledge of Commercial Fiber PRI and Managed Voice installation and trouble shooting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system tests such as signal/noise, signal/hum, sweep, chart recording, return loss bridge; RF troubleshooting.
• Set trunk levels; install/change trunk amplifiers; calculate signal losses.
• Install electronics and maintain power supplies.
• Use, store, and maintain all test equipment.
• Troubleshoot coaxial and fiber distribution systems; perform duty of Broadband Specialist I–III as needed.
• Climb poles or structures; lift up to 100 lbs; work in confined spaces.
• Prepare project estimates and bill of materials.
• On-call duty may be required; provide general assistance as directed.
