Job summary

Mediacom Communications Corporation seeks a Broadband Specialist IV, Maintenance to perform field technical work, maintaining the HFC plant from node to tap and ensuring reliable CATV distribution and HSD systems. The role includes turn-on activities for new distribution, plus troubleshooting during outages and power failures.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, knowledge of HFC systems, and a track record of hands-on cable technology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months as Broadband Specialist III or 5+ years’ equivalent cable technician experience.
• 18 months tenure as a Mediacom BBS III or equivalent.
• Knowledge of HFC plant, installs and service calls.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system tests such as signal/noise, signal/hum, sweep, chart recording, return loss bridge; RF knowledge and troubleshooting; balance HFC plant.
• Set trunk levels, install and replace trunk amplifiers; compute signal level losses.
• Install electronics and power connections; maintain power supplies.
• Troubleshoot, repair coaxial and fiber distribution systems and perform service changes.
