Job summary

Mediacom Communications is seeking a Broadband Specialist IV, Maintenance to perform field technical work from node to tap, maintaining the HFC and HSD systems and turning on new distributions. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, installation, and customer service in a dynamic field environment.

Responsibilities include testing, level setting, equipment installation, and spare parts management. On-call duties may apply, with safety standards and codes to be followed. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
• Minimum 6 months as Broadband Specialist III or 5+ years' equivalent cable technician experience.
• 18 months tenure as Mediacom BBS III or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of HFC plant, installs and service calls.
• Knowledge of Commercial Fiber PRI and Managed Voice installation and troubleshooting.
• Advanced mechanical skills for splicing.
• Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to work in high or tight spaces and at various heights.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system tests (signal/noise, signal/hum, sweep, return loss, RF troubleshooting).
• Set trunk levels and change out trunk amplifiers; calculate signal losses.
• Install electronics and maintain power supplies.
• Use and maintain test equipment; ensure safe operation.
• Troubleshoot and repair coaxial and fiber distribution systems.
• Prepare project estimates and materials lists.
• Work with connectors, fasteners, and splices; perform duties of BBS I–V.
• Climb poles and work in confined spaces; lift up to 100 lbs.
• Perform additional duties and on-call as needed.
