Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer- Bridges in New York, NY to lead technical efforts on complex transportation projects. You will guide design, analysis and construction support for bridges, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development.

Requirements include a structural/ civil engineering degree, 7+ years of experience, and a professional engineer license. Travel may be required; familiarity with AASHTO/AREMA is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant post-education experience.
• Engineer license required.
• Strong knowledge of structural/civil construction laws, codes, regulations and compliance.
• Prior leadership experience.
• Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical lead roles on bridge-focused complex transportation engineering projects.
• Lead analysis, design, construction support, and development of contract drawings and specifications for bridges.
• Support business development and proposal preparation.
• Familiarity with AASHTO and AREMA standards.
• Develop client base for high-level structural engineering services.
• Mentor staff and oversee junior engineers for growth.
• Department management, staff utilization, and training responsibilities.
• Ensure ethical decision-making and adherence to company policies.
• Travel to project sites as required.
