Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol, a global infrastructure advisor, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer Inspector for Bridge & Waterfront projects in Norfolk, VA. The role focuses on supervising and inspecting transportation and waterfront construction sites in the local area.

You will lead field inspections, prepare technical reports, and ensure adherence to the company's Quality Management System while applying FHWA/NHI criteria. Travel and overtime may be required based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer licensure with Virginia reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
• 10–15 years of structural inspection experience.
• FHWA-NHI-130055 certification.
• NSTM/Fracture Critical certification FHWA-NHI-130078.
• Waterfront inspection experience preferred.
• Field requirements are 5 days per week; weekends may be required.
• Travel overnight/out-of-town approximately 10–15%.

Responsibilities

• Lead field inspections and coordinate with other professionals.
• Leads, coordinates and participates in inspections and construction observation of bridges, highways, and waterfront sites.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates for design, rehabilitation and inspection projects.
• Provide quality assurance reviews of inspection reports and ensure adherence to Quality Management System.
