Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to lead field inspections for roadway and bridge projects in the Atlanta area.

You will identify deficiencies, monitor workmanship to specs, and mentor junior staff while preparing detailed written reports for QA and compliance. The role requires deep knowledge of construction standards, plans, and materials, plus the ability to work independently, manage safety, and obtain required certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with progressive roadway/bridge inspection exp.
• Associate degree plus 8 years of progressive roadway/bridge inspection exp.
• High school diploma with 15 years of field inspection experience for a highway agency.
• Experience in transportation construction inspection including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.
• Thorough knowledge of specs, standards, materials, methods and equipment for highway and bridge work.
• Strong math skills: algebra, geometry, trigonometry.
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans and reports (BFI, pile driving).
• Ability to work independently and make informed field decisions.
• Commitment to safety in construction environments.
• Valid US Driver's License and ability to pass MVR.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document deficiencies in roadway/bridge work and coordinate adjustments.
• Conduct daily site visits to ensure materials/workmanship meet specs.
• Mentor junior team members and review their work for QA.
• Provide inspections and written reports for bridge and OV activities.
• Supervise junior technicians performing OV audits and inspections.
• Serve as SME on Developer activities including remediation and repair reviews.
• Monitor on-site activities and inspect materials per plans and specs.
• Oversee sampling/testing per CQAP and document results.
• Ensure material certifications meet Final Acceptance requirements.
• Perform contract admin duties and maintain project documentation.
