Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. seeks a Sr. Construction Inspector to lead field oversight on roadway and bridge projects in the Atlanta area. You will identify deficiencies, review workmanship, and ensure compliance with contract specifications through daily site visits.

You will mentor junior staff, prepare written inspection reports, and act as SME for Developer activities. Strong knowledge of plans, safety, and GDOT practices is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 3+ years roadway/bridge inspection exp.
• Associate degree with 8+ years inspection exp.
• High school diploma with 15+ years inspection exp. in state highway projects.
• Experience in transportation construction inspection, including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.
• Thorough knowledge of specs, standards, materials, and equipment used in highway/bridge work.
• Ability to read complex plans/reports (BFI, pile driving, drilled shafts).
• Experience working independently and in field decision making.
• Commitment to safety in construction environments.
• Valid US driver’s license and ability to pass MVR.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify deficiencies in roadway/bridge construction and document them.
• Conduct daily site visits to monitor work and ensure conformance with specs.
• Mentor junior team members and review their work for QA/QC.
• Provide inspections and written reports for bridge and OV activities.
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians performing OV audits/inspections.
• Serve as SME on Developer activities, including remediation reviews.
• Monitor on-site construction activities and inspect materials per plans/specs.
• Oversee sampling/testing per CQAP and project schedule.
• Attend pre-activity meetings with Developer and IQF.
• Coordinate with IQF to resolve quality issues.
• Ensure Developer IQF inputs QA data into Materials database on time.
• Verify material certification for Final Acceptance.
• Perform contract admin duties and maintain documentation.
