Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. in Atlanta, GA seeks a Sr. Construction Inspector to lead roadway and bridge inspections, oversee QA activities, and mentor junior staff on diverse field projects.

The role requires deep knowledge of highway/bridge construction practices, strong field oversight, and the ability to coordinate with IQF and developers. Some night/weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 3 years roadway/bridge inspection experience.
• Associate degree with 8 years inspection experience.
• High school diploma with 15 years inspection experience as OV/employee for a State Highway Agency or equivalent.
• Experience in transportation construction inspection including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.
• Knowledge of specs, standards, materials, methods and equipment in highway/bridge construction.
• Proficient with mathematical functions (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
• Experience reading complex construction plans and reports (BFI, pile driving, drilled shafts).
• Ability to work independently and make field decisions; commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document deficiencies in roadway and bridge construction, and communicate adjustments for compliance with contract specs.
• Conduct daily site visits to monitor work-in-progress and ensure materials/workmanship meet specs.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members, reviewing their work for QA.
• Provide inspections and written reports for bridge construction and OV activities.
• Supervise junior technicians performing OV audits and inspections.
• Act as SME on Developer activities, including remediation and repair reviews.
• Monitor on-site construction activities and inspect materials per plans, specs, and provisions.
