Job summary

Volkert, Inc. seeks a Senior Certified Bridge Inspector to support the Southeast Region, with assignments across Maitland, Tampa, Miami, or Sunrise, FL. You will inspect bridges, prepare and review reports, and assist in training assistant inspectors. Occasional travel across Florida and possibly the United States is required.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of bridge inspection experience, knowledge of national methods, and MS Word/Excel proficiency. A high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of bridge/ancillary inspection experience.
• Understanding of national bridge inspection methods, SNBI, evaluations and report preparation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• FDOT applications preferred.
• Ability to travel out of state; overnight stays may be required.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Operation of aerial platforms such as bucket trucks preferred.
• Dive training and certification preferred but not required.
• Boat operation skills preferred.
• Completion of FHWA/NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges required; 130053 refresher preferred if older.
• Completion of FHWA/NHI 130078, 130091, 130087 highly preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

• Perform bridge inspection, topside and underwater, of culverts to large complex bridges and ancillary structures.
• Develop inspection reports and review them for accuracy.
• Office tasks include report writing, review and data entry.
