Job summary

GPI / Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. in Wilmington, MA, seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead design, rehabilitation and inspection of highway and railroad bridges, mentoring staff and growing the practice across the Northeast.

You will manage projects, coordinate with agencies like MassDOT/MBTA, produce calculations and reports, and help win new work through client presentations and proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis; Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years of bridge engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, and prestressed concrete bridge design.
• Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and bridge rehabilitation practices.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and bridge design software.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Prior experience working with MassDOT, MBTA, municipalities, or other public agencies preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, analysis, design, and rehabilitation of highway and railroad bridge projects.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality control efforts.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, plans, specifications, and engineering reports.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor for junior engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support bridge inspections, condition assessments, and load rating analyses.
• Participate in business development, proposal preparation, and client presentations.
• Ensure compliance with MassDOT, AASHTO, and applicable design standards.
