Job summary

COWI is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer in McLean, VA to lead bridge design and project management on complex projects. You will oversee teams, coordinate with clients and staff, and drive technical decisions, scheduling, and budgeting to deliver high-quality structures.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with a structures focus, substantial bridge design experience, and professional engineer licensure in the region or ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structures focus.
• 8–15 years of related experience in Bridge Design and Project Management.
• Experience with complex bridges and 3D structural modeling using CSI Bridge, Sofistik, and ADINA.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia, Maryland, DC or able to obtain.
• Experience with proposals and leading in business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of engineers and technicians producing drawings and calculations, supervising and reviewing work.
• Prepare work plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Perform structural analysis, design, evaluation and produce calculations and drawings.
• Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications and engineering reports.
• Research and review design options for technical and financial impact.
• Liaise with clients, professionals, and third parties as needed.
