Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead technical design and documentation for transportation projects, including bridges and retaining walls.

You will oversee project delivery, coordinate with owners and contractors, and ensure designs meet budget, schedule, and industry standards. You will mentor junior staff, perform complex analyses using OpenBridge and MicroStation, review submittals, and support load ratings and construction documents.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering with four years of relevant experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain TN license within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical bridge design and documentation while supporting project delivery and client coordination.
• Lead construction documents for bridge design, repair, and retaining wall projects with clarity and constructability.
• Coordinate with project manager to define scope, schedule, and budget, providing input on risks and resources.
• Attend meetings with owners, clients, and contractors to communicate design intent and resolve issues.
• Mentor junior staff and perform site visits to observe field conditions and ensure accordance with design documents.
