Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to independently perform structural tasks for small projects or segments of large ones.

You will mentor junior staff, lead bridge design and documentation, and coordinate with project teams to deliver on time and within budget for diverse clients including DOTs and municipalities. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college with four years of relevant experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer in the state of TN or ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical bridge design and documentation while supporting project delivery, client coordination, and quality on every assignment.
• Perform structural engineering studies and design analyses using industry software and sound engineering judgment.
• Lead the development of construction documents for bridge design, bridge repair, and retaining wall projects, ensuring clarity, constructability, and alignment with client standards.
• Coordinate with the project manager to define project scope, schedule, and budget, providing input on risks and resource needs.
• Attend meetings with owners, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to communicate design intent and resolve issues.
• Review submittals and drawings from contractors and fabricators with clear feedback and recommendations.
• Lead production of bridge repair and replacement plans using OpenBridge and MicroStation and support load ratings development.
• Contribute to design approaches and concepts for steel and concrete structures.
