Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead design and documentation for transportation projects, ensuring quality and on-time delivery. The role includes mentoring junior staff and coordinating with owners and contractors on design intent.

Responsibilities include producing construction documents for bridges and retaining walls, reviewing submittals, and supporting load ratings while working with OpenBridge and MicroStation.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil or Structural Engineering degree with four years of relevant experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in TN or able to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical bridge design and documentation while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Produce construction documents for bridge design, repair, and retaining walls.
• Coordinate with project manager to define scope, schedule, budget.
• Review submittals and provide clear feedback.
• Mentor junior staff in structural design principles.
• Conduct site visits to observe conditions and guide inspectors.
• Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures.
• Collaborate with authorities and utilities on permitting.
