Job summary

NextPlay Jobs' client, an established engineering firm, seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead bridge design on design-build and conventional transportation projects. You will work with construction teams from proposal through construction, owning technical aspects rather than handing off drawings.

This role offers technical ownership, mentorship of junior engineers, and collaboration with contractors, owners, and other design disciplines to develop buildable solutions.

Qualifications

• Active PE license required.
• 10+ years of bridge design experience with increasing responsibility.
• Design-build project experience required.
• Ability to manage projects independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• EOR or EIC experience preferred.
• Solid grasp of constructability and how contractors operate.
• Design experience across steel, prestressed, and reinforced concrete bridges.
• Proficiency with bridge design software such as MicroStation, OpenBridge, LEAP, and CSiBridge.
• State DOT project experience preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as Engineer of Record or Engineer in Charge on bridge projects
• Guide projects from proposal through design and into construction
• Build project plans covering scope, schedule, staffing, and technical approach
• Manage several projects at once while holding to quality, budget, and schedule targets
• Lead analysis and design of steel, prestressed concrete, and cast-in-place concrete bridges
• Produce and review plans, calculations, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates
• Contribute to design-build proposals, including technical concepts, schedules, and quantity estimates
• Take part in ATCs, value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk sessions
• Work directly with contractors, owners, and other design disciplines to develop buildable solutions
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and QA/QC reviews
• Support business development and client relationships
