Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) seeks an Experienced Bridge Engineer to lead bridge and structural design across Michigan, with opportunities to work across state lines. Hybrid work accommodates remote days while reporting to Michigan or Ohio offices as needed.

You will collaborate with multiple engineering teams, manage projects, and mentor others while delivering high‑quality structures and designs in line with MDOT and AASHTO standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in bridge design and structural engineering.
• Michigan PE license required.
• Experience with MDOT and/or MDOT LAP projects.
• Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design standards.
• Software experience: MicroStation and OpenRoads; Civil 3D a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform bridge and structural design — including layout, analysis, and plan development — following MDOT and AASHTO standards.
• Contribute to the full project lifecycle from concept to construction for various bridge types.
• Prepare layouts, quantity calculations, and construction specifications for new and rehabbed structures.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Collaborate with roadway and geotechnical teams for coordinated solutions.
• Manage and coordinate projects and communicate with clients and team members.
• Mentor and grow leadership and technical skills.
