Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Structures/Bridge Engineer to design, evaluate, and analyze highway bridges in Salt Lake City, UT. The role reports to the Transportation department and requires a PE license and 4–8 years of experience. Travel <20% is possible with local/state/Federal projects.

You will collaborate with bridge staff to prepare PS&E documents, estimates, and specs while using industry-standard software like CSi Bridge, MIDAS, VBent, and LEAP. A competitive benefits package accompanies this opportunity.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Registered PE license is required or pending licensure.
• 4 to 8 years of bridge/transportation experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and analyze highway/railroad/pedestrian bridges and other transportation structures.
• Prepare designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications.
• Collaborate with bridge staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within budget.
• Perform or check bridge designs using listed software tools.
• Design or check retaining walls and other structural components for road or site projects.
• Support building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering.

Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 / year

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Design, evaluate, and analyze highway/railroad/pedestrian bridges/other transportation structures
• Prepare designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications
• Work in cooperation with bridge staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies and state DOTs
• Perform or check bridge designs using CSi Bridge, MIDAS, VBent, PG Super, LEAP, BRASS, Mathcad, and/or other bridge software
• Design or check retaining wall and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects
• Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
• Registered PE license
• 4 to 8 years of experience
• Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices, some travel required--<20%
• Experience working in bridge design teams a plus
• Design Build and Alternative Delivery experience a plus
• Solid understanding of transportation projects
