Job summary

OPmobility is seeking a Product Application Engineer – BMS to lead definition, integration, validation, and customer support of Battery Management Systems for electrified mobility. Work spans across high-reliability battery applications with global engineering teams and customers.

The role requires 5+ years in BMS or high-reliability systems, strong CAN, diagnostics, and safety knowledge, plus hands-on development experience in HV architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Systems, Automotive, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in BMS, systems engineering, or high-reliability battery applications; 7+ preferred.
• At least 3 years in direct BMS development, integration, or validation.
• Experience with 400V+ high-voltage battery systems and 400V–1000V architectures.
• Strong understanding of BMS architecture, safety, diagnostics, controls, and V&V.
• Proficiency with CAN, CAN FD, J1939, UDS, CANalyzer, INCA, HIL, and related tools.
• Knowledge of functional safety, cybersecurity, RAMS, hazard analysis, and safety cases.

Responsibilities

• Lead BMS system definition, architecture, integration, and development for high-voltage batteries.
• Translate customer, regulatory, safety, and manufacturing needs into system requirements.
• Define hardware-software interfaces, diagnostics, communications, and fault responses.
• Maintain requirements traceability, specifications, validation plans, and test cases.
• Develop and execute BMS verification plans including HIL/SIL and battery cycling.
• Support SOC, SOH, SOP/SOF, fault strategies, and model-based validation.
• Lead root-cause analyses, 8D/5Why investigations, and field issue resolution.
• Coordinate activities across systems, hardware, software, mechanical, and QA teams.
• Support safety, cybersecurity, RAMS, and certification activities for vehicle integration.
