Job summary

Mantis Innovation helps organizations improve building performance by integrating energy, facility operations, and sustainability. The BMS Estimator role develops accurate cost estimates and proposals for BMS/BAS, HVAC controls, and related projects across commercial and data center environments.

The successful candidate will review drawings, perform takeoffs, prepare pricing, and collaborate with teams to deliver competitive, profitable proposals aligned with project scope and client needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BMS/BAS, Controls Engineering, or related environments.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, DDC controls, commissioning practices.
• Experience developing project scope from construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, submittals, and bid packages to determine BMS/BAS scope.
• Issue RFIs to clarify statements of work during bid process.
• Develop counts, material takeoffs, labor estimates, software needs, and pricing summaries.
• Prepare customer-facing proposals, scope documents, exclusions, assumptions, and bid summaries.
• Identify constructability issues, design conflicts, and commercial risks before award.
• Evaluate revised drawings for impacts to labor, materials, and schedule.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotations.
• Support handoff, change orders, and scope evaluations during execution.
• Assess integration requirements for BAS, BMS, EPMS, SCADA, DCIM, and third-party systems.
• Participate in customer meetings, site walks, and pre-bid reviews.
