Job summary

Mantis Innovation is seeking a BMS Estimator to develop accurate cost estimates and proposals for Building Management Systems and related automation projects. The successful candidate blends controls expertise with construction knowledge to craft competitive, profitable bids across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and data center environments.

The role requires strong analytical and commercial skills, with experience in HVAC controls, system integration, and preparing comprehensive bid

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BMS/BAS, controls engineering, or related environments.
• Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and construction drawings.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, DDC, and commissioning.
• Experience developing project scope from construction documents.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and commercial skills.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, submittals, and bid packages to determine BMS/BAS scope.
• Issue RFIs during the bid process to clarify SOW.
• Develop counts, material takeoffs, labor estimates, software needs, and pricing.
• Prepare customer-facing proposals, scope documents, exclusions, and bid summaries.
• Identify constructability and commercial risks before contract award.
• Review revised drawings and assess impacts on labor, materials, schedule, and scope.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Support handoff, change orders, and scope evaluations during execution.
• Evaluate integration requirements for BAS, BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and DCIM systems.
• Participate in customer meetings, site walks, and pre-bid reviews.
