Job summary

Mantis Innovation is seeking a BMS Estimator in a hybrid role to develop accurate cost estimates and proposals for Building Management and Automation Systems across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and data center projects.

The successful candidate will review drawings, prepare scope documents and bid summaries, and coordinate with vendors while ensuring competitive and profitable proposals. Strong control-system knowledge and cost analysis skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in BMS/BAS, Controls Engineering, or related environments.
• Ability to read mechanical, electrical, controls drawings and specs.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, DDC controls, and commissioning practices.
• Experience developing project scope from construction documents.
• Strong analytical and commercial skills.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, submittals to determine BMS/BAS project scope.
• Clarify SOW by issuing RFIs during bid process.
• Develop equipment counts, takeoffs, labor estimates, pricing summaries.
• Prepare customer-facing proposals, scope documents, exclusions, and bid summaries.
• Identify constructability concerns and commercial risks before contract award.
• Review revised drawings and evaluate impacts on labor, materials, schedule, and execution.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Support handoff, change orders, and scope evaluations during execution.
• Evaluate integration requirements among BAS, BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and DCIM systems.
• Participate in customer meetings, site walks, and pre-bid conferences.
