Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston seeks a Senior Business Development Manager to lead external outreach to biopharma, helping to secure industry funding and sponsored research opportunities. You will support Harvard Faculty PIs, refine pitches, and ensure alignment between translational science and industry needs.

The role requires deep BD experience, a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, and a strong network in biopharma.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Sciences or related field required.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience.
• 4–6 years of Business Development experience with a deal sheet showing success in licensing and sponsored research agreements.
• Strong relationship-building skills to engage academic and industry scientists and BD executives.
• Well-connected with biopharma industry scientists, managers, and BD scouts.
• Postdoc or prior industry experience preferred.
• Broad understanding of oncology, metabolism, cardiovascular, neurology, inflammatory and infectious diseases and modalities (RNA therapeutics, omics, vaccines, mAbs, small molecules).
• Strong writing skills; ability to draft and refine PowerPoint slides.

Responsibilities

• Lead outreach with BIDMC faculty and external industry partners to create external funding opportunities.
• Maintain and expand a network of external industry BD contacts and track progress.
• Plan and manage attendance at scientific and BD events to secure funding opportunities.
• Coordinate meetings and create compelling written communications and slide decks.
• Oversee the BD database (Airtable) and report on pipeline and KPIs to leadership.
• Negotiate CDAs and support sponsored research agreements.
