Job summary

Lonza seeks a Senior R&D Scientist in Bend, OR to lead conceptualization, development and validation of innovative drug delivery platforms for proteins and nucleic acids. The role bridges early discovery and clinical translation and requires strong expertise in biologics developability.

You will work with cross-functional teams to design, execute and interpret stability, formulation and performance studies to enable injectable biologics development in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, biophysics, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong understanding of biologic developability and protein stability, interfacial behavior and formulation–biologic interactions.

Responsibilities

• Translate analytical, developability and mechanistic insights into innovative formulation and drug delivery platforms for proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids.
• Apply translational science to design and assess novel drug delivery strategies.
• Apply protein stability, aggregation and interfacial behavior principles to guide formulation design for complex biologics.
• Design, execute and interpret advanced characterization and stability studies to guide development decisions.
• Incorporate injectability and tissue interactions into formulation design for injectable biologics.
• Develop and apply in vitro and ex vivo performance models to evaluate novel injectable formulation concepts.
• Partner with cross-functional R&D teams to integrate perspectives into differentiated biologic drug product strategies.
