Job summary

Avid Bioservices seeks a Sr. Scientist to lead biologics formulation development and downstream process development in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. You will define formulation strategies and execute studies across formulation and purification processes.

You will collaborate with multiple internal teams, mentor junior scientists, and drive technology transfer to manufacturing while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in formulation development and analytical characterization of biologics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development for biologics, including pre-formulation, excipient screening and stability studies.
• Lead downstream process development for biologics, including capture and polishing chromatography, viral inactivation/filtration, and TFF.
• Utilize analytical techniques for protein characterization (DLS, DSF, SEC, CE, rheology, spectroscopy) to support development.
• Develop high-concentration protein formulations and mitigate aggregation, viscosity, and solubility issues.
• Design experiments, analyze data, and prepare protocols, reports, and development summaries.
• Establish scientific strategies and best practices for early- to late-stage formulation development in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
• Mentor junior scientists, collaborate across functions, and support technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Ensure adherence to quality, regulatory, and safety standards; travel as needed.

Education

Master’s or PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field
