Job summary

OMG Technology is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable NGS pipelines for clinical diagnostics in a remote U.S. setting. You will build production-grade software using Python, Nextflow, and AWS, with containerization and CI/CD practices.

Key responsibilities include designing scalable pipelines, deploying on AWS, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This is a 6+ month contracting role with remote work options.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in bioinformatics software engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience building NGS analysis pipelines in production.
• Advanced Python skills and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with Nextflow and Seqera Platform; AWS deployment.
• Docker, Git, CI/CD, automated testing experience.
• Experience in regulated clinical environments (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 15189).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable NGS pipelines for clinical diagnostics.
• Build and maintain workflow orchestration using Nextflow and Seqera Platform.
• Develop production-ready bioinformatics software with Python.
• Deploy, scale, and optimize pipelines on AWS.
• Implement containerized workflows with Docker/Singularity.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and releases.
• Ensure reproducibility, validation, and compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with scientists, DevOps, and clinical teams to productionize research.
• Optimize performance and cloud costs.
