Variantyx is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Bioinformatics, focused on Rust and Python to optimize large-scale genomic pipelines. This remote, full-time role demands deep systems expertise and experience with high-throughput data in a regulated environment.

You will join a lean engineering team to push the boundaries of diagnostic software, ensuring robustness, performance, and scalable data processing across CPU/GPU compute clusters.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of production software engineering experience.
• Expert in Rust and Python with memory-safe, concurrent code.
• Strong background in database design (MongoDB, RDBMS) and data migrations.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural evolution of core bioinformatics pipeline with Rust and Python integration.
• Bridge Rust modules with Python infrastructure using PyO3 and Maturin.
• Design and scale database schemas for high-throughput genomic datasets.
• Develop algorithms for variant detection and scoring on CPU/GPU clusters.
• Enforce SDLC rigor with automated testing and production-grade quality.
